The Watsonville city council is set to consider a motion today to remove a member of the city’s planning commission today. Councilman Emilio Martinez is seeking to replace his own nominee to the commission, however trina Coffman-gomez doesn’t want to step down. She was nominated by Martinez, and confirmed by the city council, last may. It will take 4-votes to remove her from the planning commission. The move is unprecedented, leaving some council members wondering if it is appropriate or legal to remove a commissioner without just cause.
