A 5 year-old Watsonville boy was airlifted to a bay area trauma center with major injuries yesterday morning after he was ejected from the truck his mother was driving. Although children 8 years-old and younger are required to be in at least a booster seat, the little boy was not. His 40 year-old mother, who was also airlifted to a trauma center, admitted to using her cell phone just prior to the accident on southbound Highway 1, near the park avenue exit.
C.H.P. officers say they are happy to install a car seat for free. in fact, they’ll even give people (who need one) a free car seat.
