UCSC Housing Project Moving Ahead 09-18-18 16:55 DC

U-C-S-C appears poised to move forward with housing projects that have sparked controversy involving much of the campus community. A new environmental impact report, released Monday, made very few changes in the plan and has been endorsed by Chancellor George Blumenthal, who today (Tuesday) announced his plan to retire at the end of the school year about to begin.

The Student Housing West development includes housing for about 3,000 students spread across two sites. All sides agree that the housing is needed, but opponents have challenged the developments’ impact on meadowlands they consider important to the look and feel of the campus.
