(17:45) SALINAS- Salinas’s new gunfire locating system contributed to the arrest of a carjacking suspect on Wednesday. Salinas police had finished calibrating the system at 11 p.m. when a report of two shots fired on the 300 block of Towt Street was issued by the system. The incident coincided with a carjacking investigation in the area. The occupants of a vehicle on the 300 block of Towt Street were detained and interviewed. A handgun and shell casings were recovered and 30 year old Miguel Orozco Solano was booked into Monterey County Jail charged with Car jacking, kidnapping, and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner.
