SC Transportation Planning Uncertain 10-05-18 05:15 DC

There remain many questions about proposals to improve transportation in Santa Cruz County. With funding uncertain and proposals ranging from $70—million to more than a billion dollars, the issue is being considered by the Regional Transportation Commission, which met last night.

If SB1, the controversial state gasoline tax, is repealed in November, officials said much of the anticipated state funding tor improvements would disappear.

Options under consideration include rail service, new trails, more buses and improvements to Highway 1. The 12-member committee hopes – but doesn’t promise – to have a decision made by December 6.
