The 30th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake is October 17th and ahead of that local emergency agencies will hold a preparedness event at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.
The October 13th event takes place from Noon until 4PM.
Agencies expected to participate include Santa Cruz Fire, Santa Cruz Police, the American Red Cross, CERT, PG&E, Netcom county dispatchers, Firewise, Firesafe, California OES and others.
According to Santa Cruz Fire, the purpose of the event is to use the lessons learned from the Loma Prieta quake and other events to help people and communities remain safe in future earthquakes.
