Beginning today (Monday), the Santa Cruz public library is ending overdue fines for all children’s’ and teen books and media. The library says it is taking the step to encourage kids to visit the library, get a library card, borrow books and do better in school.
Overdue fees will still be charged for adult materials, even if checked out on a child’s library card. And individuals are still responsible for lost or damaged books.
