Salinas firefighters carried severaL Russell Road residents to safety Thursday afternoon. More than thirty people were evacuated from at least fifteen homes as water levels continued to rise at 3:30 p.m. The flood is believed to have been caused by a break in a nearby irrigation ditch. Flood waters were also contaminated by septic systems, adding to clean up logistics.
