Salinas Charter HS May Close 12-14-18 04:39 DC

Millennium Charter High School in Salinas faces an uncertain future this morning. The school could close its doors as a result of lower enrollment and financial issues.

The Monterey County Office of Education says the school is beyond broke and may face closure. Parents and school leaders say some of the problems were caused by the Office of Education and that the school deserves a reprieve.

A special meeting was held last night, where parents and students say shutting down mid-semester is a bad idea. The Office of Education says it has a plan to replace the charter school with a non-charter school equivalent.
