A DNA match has put a Watsonville man in jail. 22-year-old Rafael Orozco at was arrested at a Watsonville residence earlier today. Watsonville investigators say DNA linked Orozco to the sexual assault of 13-year-old girl in 2016.
In 2017, Orozco was arrested on felony assault charges and his DNA was entered into the state’s Combined DNA Index System, known as CODIS, which linked him to the 2016 case involving the 13-year-old.
After the DNA hit, Watsonville detectives sought and arrested Orozco.
