Watsonville Police received a report of shots fired from a vehicle a little after 4pm yesterday in the neighborhood of Pennsylvania and Clifford Avenue. An officer located a vehicle matching the description of the one fleeing from the scene of the shooting. When the officer tried to stop the car for running a stop sign, one 14-year-old male passenger exited the vehicle and fled through a field on foot, but he was surrounded. The driver continued to attempt to evade police, until he crashed into a parked car in the Watsonville Square Shopping Center. 19-year-old Ernesto Murillo and 18-year-old Merino Zarate left the car and tried to flee. The two men were caught and arrested, though investigations into their possible involvement in the shooting are ongoing. The juvenile was released to his parents.
