The terrain around the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge is being surveyed by Cal-Trans workers in helicopters. They’re using what they call LAY-dar….which is a surveying method that measures distances with a laser light, and can get detailed measurements of the unstable ground below the un-repairable bridge. The new bridge will have a much deeper foundation, but just how deep will be determined by the measurements Cal-Trans workers are getting.
