November 16, 2016: Farmworker Housing

(10:20) Salinas, Monterey & Santa Cruz Counties – Salinas, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties will be conducting a year long study to learn more about farmers and how much more housing is needed for them.  Farmers will start being interviewed this coming spring.  Researchers want to find out where the farmers are living, how many farm workers are here and how much more housing is still needed.  The goal is to make Salinas known as an ag tech hub.   Currently there is a shortage of farm workers because of the housing issue.  Local Governments have agreed to invest $300,000 into the study to resolve the issues.
