May 3, 2016: Monterey County Sees Boost in Tourism Industry

(07:22) MONTEREY COUNTY – Monterey County saw a boost in its tourism industry last year, according to a new report. The study, released by the county’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, shows tourists spent $2.7 billion, which is a 4.5 percent increase from 2014. Additionally, the report showed a 5 percent increase in booked overnight stays. The boost is being attributed to consistent warm weather conditions, a new promotional campaign, and international attention following the release of a BBC documentary on Monterey Bay marine life.
