(13:00) Santa Cruz – A Santa Cruz neurosurgeon and nurse were arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing children. 57 year-old James Kohut, is a neurosurgeon at Dominican Hospital and at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center. Kohut was arrested yesterday on suspicion of oral copulation with a minor, and forcing lewd acts on a minor. One of Kohut’s nurses, 42-year-old Rashel Brandon, was arrested on May 9th, and charged with eight felony counts of child sex abuse, including sodomy and oral copulation. A third person was also arrested in connection to the case; their name has not been released at this time. As of right now there are two victims. One of the victims in less than 10 years old and the other is less than 14 years old. This case is being investigated by the FBI, Internet Crimes Against Children Task force, and Watsonville Police Department.
