(18:17) SALINAS- A Soledad man in custody on DUI charges has been arrested for armed robbery. Authorities say, 23 year old Mario Valencia robbed a Salinas 7-11 at gunpoint around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning a short time later he wrecked the get away car in a ditch on River Road near Chualar River Road. Valencia then went home a got an SUV then crashed into an orchard before being arrested on suspicion of DUI while trying to pull the car out of the ditch. Later that day the owner of the robbed 7-11 recognized Valencia when his DUI mug shot aired on a local newscast. Valencia was arrested in Monterey County Jail and charged with armed robbery.
