(06:54) MONTEREY COUNTY – The parks director for Monterey County has announced he plans to resign this summer. Mark Mariscal has served in the position for just under a year. Before working for Monterey County, he was employed by the Los Angeles city parks department. During his time in Monterey County, Mariscal has played a key role in helping address the department’s financial struggles. Mariscal submitted his letter of resignation this week, citing that he plans to move back to Southern California to retire. Mariscal is expected to step down in mid-July. (S.G.)
