Lay off notices are expected to go out next month to several full-time teachers with the Live Oak School District. A district superintendent proposed issuing the pink slips last night during the board’s meeting in a cost-cutting effort to prevent $430,000 in salaries and benefits from being cut. The positions include 2 elementary teachers, one physical education teacher and a math teacher. Preliminary layoff notices are required to be sent out to all state school districts by March 15th. The pink slips may be revoked if the district’s finances improve.
