(09:30) Salinas – The City of Salinas announced the launch of a major open data and civic engagement initiative at a City Hall press conference yesterday (Tuesday). The program is called “What Works Cities” and is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies. The program will make City data more accessible and usable in the service of government effectiveness and civic engagement, with a focus on safe neighborhoods. City leaders announced that Salinas is one of 57 cities designated by Bloomberg Philanthropies as a “What Works City”.
