SALINAS – The defense team for 40 year-old Tami Huntsman, and her teenage boyfriend Gonzalo Curiel, has asked for a delay until at least September of next year before starting their trial. Huntsman and Curiel have pleaded not guilty to charges they killed Huntsman’s 6 year-old nephew and 3 year-old niece, and tortured of a 3rd child. The Monterey County Deputy District Attorney involved in the case says because there are children who are scheduled to be witnesses he feels it would be better for the children, and the case, if they testified sooner, rather than later, both for their memories, and their recovery. The autopsies of Sean and Delylah Tara concluded that the children died from long- term child abuse.
