A Monterey County Superior Court judge has denied re-sentencing for a man convicted in a 1991 Salinas home invasion case. 47 year old John Lewis Drayton was one of 5 assailants in the home invasion robbery that included the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl and the murder of her father. Drayton had petitioned the court for re-sentencing based on a new state law passed last year changing the definition of murder. The court found that although Drayton did not pull the trigger, his involvement in the crime showed a disregard for human life.
