Watsonville council members voted last night to approve a plan to fluoridate the city’s water. The controversial decision was passed in a 4-to-3 vote to design and operate a fluoridation plant, despite concerns raised over the side effects caused by fluoridating the water. The city was facing a $200 a day fine if the city did not decide to add fluoride to it’s water supply. The approval comes after state regulations requiring city’s add fluoride to their water supply to help keep developing teeth healthy.
