W.V. Issues PGE Fine 10/01/10 4pm TDH

1-hundred dollars.   That’s how much the City of Watsonville is asking PG and E to pay, for violating the city’s order to halt the installation of smart meters.  The city passed a moratorium in August, threatening to fine the utility as much as 5-hundred dollars per offense.   The citation has been issued, however there is no indication whether or not P.G. and E.   will actually pay it.   Officials maintain that only the California Public Utility Commission has such authority.   State officials will likely have to weigh in on the issue, which could have implications for other jurisdictions that have passed moratoriums, including santa cruz county.
