The pick-up truck that police believe was used in the shooting death of a Newman police officer was discovered yesterday afternoon. Investigators went to the 26-Thousand block of River Road outside Newman around 3:15 PM yesterday after they received a tip. There they found the gray Dodge Ram extended-cab pick-up that had been captured in surveillance video along with pictures of the suspect, who bought beer and cigarettes a short time before the slaying.

The truck was found at a mobile home park where witnesses told police the suspect had lived with a woman and child.

The suspect was not in the area, although police say they believe he may still be hiding out somewhere in the vicinity
