State wildlife officials say that about half of California is Mountain Lion territory, basically wherever deer can be found the cats may be nearby. Nevertheless, residents of a Del Rey Oaks neighborhood were surprised when what appeared to be a Mountain Lion was spotted on home security video Wednesday afternoon.
The big cat was recorded in the shadows in the front year pf a home near Portola and Osio Way. Though solitary, Mountain Lions are dangerous to pets, children and potentially adults. Police say they have increased patrols in the area where the lion was seen.
