U.C.S.C tenured professor Gopal Balakrishnan has been fired as the end result of a Title 9 investigation. He has also been denied emeritus status. The professor was found to have engaged in sexual misconduct with a student. He taught The History Of Consciousness.
A civil lawsuit against Balakrishnan, is ongoing in Santa Cruz County Superior Court.
