An Amtrak train collided with a van north of Gonzales on Saturday. The CHP says the the unoccupied van was struck shortly before 7 p-m between Alta Street and Foletta Road. The train was stopped and an investigation was launched. It is unclear whether the vehicle experienced mechanical failure or was abandoned, at this time the incident is being investigated as a hit and run.
