Two people were arrested after a probation search uncovered stolen property and drugs. 19-year-old Melissa Bica and 31-year-old John Chulian Jr. were approached by Capitola Police officers shortly before noon while parked in their vehicle on 41st Avenue. When officers determined that both were on probation, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Multiple stolen items found to be connected to car burglaries in the area were discovered. Bica and Chulian were also found to be in possession of heroin and associated paraphernalia. Chulian and Bica were booked into Santa Cruz County jail on charges of possession of stolen property, heroin, and drug paraphernalia, as well as identity theft.
