The man arrested for landing a gyrocopter at the U.S. Capitol building attended high school in Santa Cruz. 61 year old Doug Hughes was born in San Mateo County before his family moved to the 900 block of Walnut Avenue on the Westside of Santa Cruz where he was part of the last graduating class at Holy Cross High School before it closed in 1970. Hughes was arraigned in Federal Court Yesterday (Thurs) on charges of violating restricted airspace. He faces four years in prison if convicted.
