On Saturday night around 11 PM, a structure fire was reported near Soquel Avenue and Cayuga Street and Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to the scene.
It took 20 minutes for fire crews to quell the blaze that was discovered burning behind the Midtown Surfshop and ended up reaching the building itself.
No injuries or victims of the fire were reported and storefront inventory was mostly saved.
Officials with the Santa Cruz Fire Department state that the fire is deemed suspicious in nature.
