Although many Santa Cruz METRO, and ParaCruz buses have surveillance cameras on-board, there are still 50 fixed-route buses slated to have cameras installed on them once the funding becomes available. The money has been coming from the California Office of Emergency Services, although the funding source could change as these final cameras are installed. The cameras are designed to assist with determining if METRO, a passenger, or an outside source, is responsible for any particular incident.
