SOQUEL HILLS FIRE 09-01-10 06:30 a.v.

Firefighters in Santa Cruz discovered over a hundred marijuana plants when a fire broke out yesterday at a house in the Soquel Hills. 15-firefighters from several departments responded around 6:10 p.m. at a home on the 3500 block of Chardonnay Road, near Rodeo Gulch Road. A helicopter and air tanker were dispatched to the scene. Fire officials say over the 100 small marijuana plants that were found growing in the basement, were not related to the blaze, which reportedly began when a resident inside the home fell asleep on the deck with a lit cigarette. No injuries were reported.
