(11:35) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A fire on the Highway 17 Summit caused closure of both northbound lanes Monday night. Firefighters were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. to the area across the street from the Summit House Beer Garden and Grill, where they battled a quarter of an acre fire. The blaze was contained by 11:10 p.m. and extinguished shortly after midnight. Both northbound lanes of Highway 17 were closed down for a short time and were reopened around 1 a.m.. The fire’s cause is currently under investigation and no damages were reported.
