A former Scotts-Valley hotel owner agreed to pay a twelve-thousand dollar fine. This fine was leveled by the regional water quality oversight board for a runoff violation committed during construction of what is now the Four Points by Sheraton hotel.
In March 2016, Contracted construction workers hired by the hotel owner were seen allowing water from the construction site to flow into Carbonera Creek, an environmentally sensitive habitat.
