SC Sheriff Says Fines, Jail Possible for Stay-at-Home Violators 03-25-20 02:35 DC

The Santa Cruz Sheriff warned Tuesday that violators of the county and state stay-at-home orders face up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Sheriff Jim Hart said violators have “had fair warning” and those ignoring the shelter-at-home order are endangering everyone in Santa Cruz and now will face more serious consequences.

The warning came as law enforcement began reacting to larges gatherings still taking place and non-essential businesses that remain open.
