Here’s a warning from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. They say people need to be on guard after the sheriff’s office received two reports over the past week of a scam targeting the elderly.
Investigators say the scammers call posing as a grandchild in trouble and say they need money to get out of jail. The Sheriff’s Office said the scammers sometimes use personal information to get the victim to trust them.
Anyone who has lost money to a scam is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 831-471-1121.
