2,200 PG&E customers in Santa Cruz were without power today after a tree struck a home causing downed power lines. The 12:30 p.m. incident occurred when the redwood struck an oak tree and both fell, with one falling on the home on the 700 block of Skyline Drive. As of this afternoon, power has been restored to all but 11 area customers. The tree fell near the intersection of Hillcrest Drive, trapping residents of up to 6 homes while damaging a water line as well.
