A new location has been designated for a Santa Cruz homeless encampment. The City Manager, Martin Bernal, announced the city has adapted a model used by San Diego to successfully to establish a safe and sanitary encampment that was implemented to address the hepatitis A outbreak. The Benchlands encampment will be shut down once the new location on the 1200 block of River Street is ready for occupation.
