Santa Cruz police are investigating a homicide. At about 7:30 p.m. Friday patrol units responded to reports of shots fired near River Street and North Pacific Avenue. On scene officers found a male with a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel, his identity is being withheld pending notification of family. The area was then secured and traffic detoured around the area for about five hours while detectives processed the crime scene. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Santa Cruz police.
