18:37 SANTA CRUZ-A Santa Cruz is the first to use a synthetic exoskeleton. 52 year old Darrin Caddes suffered from a spinal chord injury that paralyzed him from the chest down 15 years ago. He is one of a group of 5 people who volunteer for a trial at Dominican Hospital on the feasibility of an exoskeleton on paraplegics. The study began earlier this month. Several other exoskeleton companies are planning similar studies in the near future.
