A Santa Cruz man was arrested after allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old boy Friday morning. Authorities say that the Mission Hill Middle School student was skateboarding to school when a driver became irate at the boy. He believed was interfering with traffic on King Street. The man then pushed the youth, knocking him to the pavement. The student then ran to the aid of a parent chaperone. A short time later 44-year-old Steve Watkins was arrested for felony suspicion of inflicting injury on a child.
