The Santa Cruz Fire Department will offer 20-hour basic training for the Community Emergency Response Team program starting Nov. 1 at the Santa Cruz Emergency Operations Center, on Upper Park Road.
The series will take place from 6:30 until 10 P.M. on Nov. 1, Nov. 7, Nov. 13, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13.
Attendees will learn how to handle disaster situations at home and in the community through fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operation.
Upon completion of the course, participants receive a Disaster Service Worker badge that is good for five years. Minimum class enrollment is 20 students. Information is at santacruzcountycert.org/cert-training-classes.
