The meeting is slated to discuss proposed animal ordinances crafted by the Animal Control Director, some of which include:

  • A limit of 3 dogs and 5 cats, with a permit required for those who wish to own more than those amounts.
  • The banning of petting zoos at school fundraisers
  • No feeding of feral cats, unless they’re spayed or neutered.
  • Limits on roosters without a Rooster Facility License
  • A ban on 4-H presentations, including animal auctions at the Santa Cruz County Fair.

While this story is developing, those interested in commenting on these proposed changes should contact their county supervisors at 831.454.2200
