Santa Cruz County health officials are encouraging parents to have their children vaccinated for measles following a recent outbreak of the illness at California Disney parks. More than 50 cases have been reported in the state so far. Most of the patients were not vaccinated. Officials from the Santa Cruz County Health Department made an announcement yesterday, reminding parents to take steps to protect themselves and their children from the highly contagious illness. Those who did not receive a vaccination at an early age are encouraged to contact their medical provider. At this time, no cases of measles have been reported on the Central Coast.
