Salmon Plentiful, But At A Price 05-13-19 10:00 DC

If you love local seafood, you pretty much have to love Santa Cruz wild-caught salmon. It’s plentiful this year but comes with a steep price tag attached – 26-dollars-a-pound is what we’ve seen. The salmon were born in a hatchery and then released to forage and gain weight, making them healthier fo9r humans to eat than farmed and artificially-colored salmon that is less expensive.

This morning on Good Morning Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz fish dealer Hans Hazemen of H&H Fresh Fish said salmon isn’t the only fresh local option available now, with halibut, tuna, and many other species now available.

Hazeman sells his fish at area farmer’s markets and in a retail store at 493 Lake Avenue in Santa Cruz.
