An 18-year old Salinas man was sentenced today to 13-years in state prison on charges of robbery and threatening a police officer. The July 16th crime occurred when Ruben Prado Quiroz, along with 2 juveniles, surrounded a 17-year old victim outside a church and threatened him at knifepoint after Quiroz flashed him a gang sign. Quiroz stole the teen’s cell phone and later threatened one of the officers. Police say the sentence was enhanced since the crime was instigated on behalf of the Norteno Criminal street gang.
