Salinas police are investigating a Monday night crash that left one man dead and one woman injured. The 27-year old driver and his 26-year old passenger were traveling southbound on Highway 101, when the man’s vehicle veered off the road, collided into a metal guardrail, and then crashed into a concrete pillar. The driver suffered severe trauma to his chest and died at the scene, while the passenger suffered multiple injuries and was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the 11:30 p.m. incident is still being investigated.
