A Salinas man is in a vegetative state in an Italian hospital following a swimming accident. R. C. Schwertfeger was vacationing with his family when he was resuscitated after nearly drowning at a pool. However CT scans indicate he has massive brain damage. The Schwertfeger family has started a go fund me account to raise the 137 thousand dollars needed to bring their family member home to the central Coast.
