Salinas Considers Ordinance to Regulate Sale of Tobacco- 12/18/14 8:00 S.G.

Salinas city officials are considering an ordinance that would reduce the accessibility of tobacco products for minors. The law would require over 130 stores in the city to pay around $285 annually for a tobacco license. Officials say the fee would help the county conduct more inspections and fine stores caught selling to minors. The money from the licenses would also help fund anti-tobacco education.
