The city of Santa Cruz is throwing a party. It’s the ribbon cutting for the first section of the coastal rail trail and the public is invited to celebrate the completion of the San Lorenzo river trestle bridge at the beach boardwalk.
The widening of the walkway is being finished ahead of schedule… and is expected to open on Friday may 17.
The ribbon cutting happens on Wednesday May 22 from 12:15 to 12:45 at the west base of the trestle bridge near the boardwalk. The celebration also marks the first segment of the 32-mile long coastal rail trail that has been in the planning stages for many years.
